Officer Dies in Line of Duty

NEW ORLEANS --

New Orleans Police officer Alfred Celestain died from injuries he suffered in a weekend car crash after doctors took him off life support.

Celestain was involved in a car crash Saturday in the Central Business District, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 4 a.m. at the corner of St. Charles Avenue and St. Joseph Street.

Celestain was initially taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, investigators said.
